In the classic battle between Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote, Acme Explosive products consistently fail to aid the coyote in capturing the road runner. Designer Daniel Weil addressed this longstanding problem by redesigning five Acme products and producing highly-detailed technical diagrams that include improvements to safety and functionality.
Rocket skates, spring-powered shoes, a spherical bomb, and a Burmese Tiger Trap were all adjusted for increased functionality. The idea for this smart and silly project was inspired by a humor essay published in the New Yorker about an imaginary lawsuit filed by Coyote against Acme for its faulty products. Weil’s drawings were collected into a holiday book which was designed by Michael Bierut and Jesse Reed.
It’s fantastic when high design meets extreme silliness!
